Help the City of Sacramento plan a bike-friendly makeover for Broadway!
Join us for a short casual ride to New Helvetia Brewing Co., at 18th & Broadway, one of several sites where you can give the City of Sacramento your input on how to make Broadway a friendlier place for bicycling, walking and hanging out -- a "complete street" that accommodates all types of street users.
WHERE: Meet us around 4:10 PM at the south edge of Capitol Park at 13th & N streets. Around 4:15 we'll roll over to New Helvetia Brewing at 18th & Broadway. Getting across Broadway is a hassle at rush hour -- and easier with a group.
We'll ride about a mile south on 13th St., east to 19th St., and south to Broadway and west to 18th. The route is a mix of very quiet low-volume streets, one busy street with bike lanes and one busy street (Broadway) with no bike lanes. Plan for rush hour traffic. Be sure and your bike can handle these conditions.
WHAT ELSE: This ride is free -- you're on your own for beer and food (there will be a food truck at New Helvetia as well as quite a few restaurants all along Broadway). Bring a lock for securing your bike. And by all means, feel welcome to bring a helmet and any other gear that helps you feel safer and more comfortable.
